Dubu Jorim - Braised Tofu and Ground Beef

Ingredients

  • 3 Korean sardines, break into small pieces
  • 1 block of silken/soft tofu, cut into cubes
  • 1 1/2 cup water
  • 4 scallions, green part only, cut into 2 inch sections
  • Meat mixture
  • 100 gram ground beef
  • 1 clove garlic, grated
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 4 scallions, white part only, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Sauce mixture
  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoon sake
  • 1 tablespoon mirin
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoon gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 2 teaspoon gochugaru (Korean chili powder)
  • 1 clove garlic, grated

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, mix together all the meat mixture. Set aside.
  2. In another bowl, mix together all the sauce mixture. Set aside.
  3. Heat a skillet/frying pan on medium heat. Add the meat mixture into the pan.
  4. Once the meat is no longer pink, add Korean sardines. Mix well.
  5. Add tofu cubes and water. Bring to a boil.
  6. Add sauce into the pan. Mix well, then reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes.
  7. Turn off heat. Add green part of scallions. Serve with steam white rice.
